Job Description

General Handyman / Skilled Technician Songster Handyman Services is looking for an experienced, reliable, and motivated handyman/skilled technician to join our team. We perform a wide variety of residential and light commercial projects throughout Bend and Central Oregon, including home repairs, decks, siding, drywall, trim carpentry, painting, installations, punch lists, maintenance, rental turnovers, and small remodeling projects. This is a hands-on field position for someone who is comfortable working independently, solving problems, following project instructions, and producing professional-quality work without constant supervision. We are a small, locally owned company that values quality workmanship, reliability, professionalism, efficiency, and good communication . We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, shows up consistently, pays attention to details, and wants to be part of a dependable long-term team. What You'll Be Doing Perform general handyman, maintenance, and repair work Complete drywall repairs, patching, texture matching, and painting Perform trim carpentry, door adjustments, hardware installation, and punch-list repairs Complete deck, siding, fencing, and other exterior repair projects Perform residential and light commercial maintenance and improvement work Diagnose problems and determine practical repair solutions in the field Read and follow written job scopes, instructions, and project notes Work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently Communicate professionally with customers and team members Take clear before, during, and after project photos Provide accurate jobsite updates through company apps Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites Properly care for company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials What We're Looking For 3+ years of professional handyman, remodeling, construction, or building maintenance experience preferred Broad hands-on experience with carpentry, drywall, painting, installations, and general repairs Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to understand, retain, and follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work independently without constant supervision Ability to produce clean, professional-quality finished work Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Dependable attendance and punctuality Professional communication and customer-service skills Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Reliable transportation to and from work Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Ability to safely lift and carry tools and materials and work in varying jobsite conditions Comfortable using a smartphone and apps for scheduling, communication, photos, and project updates Professional attitude and willingness to continue developing skills Bonus Skills Experience in any of the following is a plus: Finish carpentry Deck construction and repair Siding installation and repair Tile work Cabinetry and built-ins Door and window installation Interior and exterior painting Leading small projects or training less-experienced technicians What We Offer Competitive hourly pay based on experience Full-time, year-round work Paid holidays Paid time off eligibility Health insurance benefits for eligible employees Variety of projects instead of doing the same work every day Small-team work environment Opportunities for increased responsibility and growth Company tools, equipment, and resources for completing projects Supportive work environment focused on doing the job correctly rather than simply rushing to the next project Who Will Be Successful Here The right person for this position is dependable, organized, resourceful, and easy to work with .
