Job Description
Job Overview The Florentine Waterfront Hotel is seeking a dependable, self motivated Maintenance Technician to help care for and maintain our boutique waterfront property. This part time position is responsible for general maintenance, preventative upkeep, minor repairs, troubleshooting, outdoor property care, and assisting with improvement and renovation projects as needed. The ideal candidate has a well rounded knowledge of basic maintenance, strong problem solving and communication skills, and is comfortable working independently while also collaborating with our hotel team. Because we are a small property, this position offers plenty of variety and requires someone who is flexible, resourceful, and takes pride in their work. This position is currently part time, scheduled 2 to 3 days per week for approximately 6 to 8 hours per shift, with additional on call availability for occasional emergency repairs. For the right candidate and a successful fit with our property and team, there is an opportunity for this position to grow into a full time maintenance role. Duties The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain the overall condition, appearance, safety, and functionality of The Florentine Waterfront Hotel. Duties include routine preventative maintenance, general repairs, property projects, and responding to maintenance needs as they arise. Guest Rooms & Cabins Complete minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, drains, toilets, shower fixtures, and leaks Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs within skill level Repair doors, locks, handles, hinges, cabinets, furniture, and fixtures Complete drywall patching, painting, caulking, and touch ups Identify and address maintenance concerns within guest accommodations Assist with appliance, water heater, heating, and other equipment troubleshooting Complete preventative maintenance to reduce unexpected repairs Property & Exterior Maintenance Maintain decks, walkways, railings, fencing, exterior structures, and common areas Complete pressure washing, staining, painting, and minor carpentry projects Maintain outdoor lighting, fire pit areas, pergolas, waterfront areas, and guest amenities Inspect exterior structures and common areas for needed repairs or maintenance Help keep maintenance, shop, and storage areas clean and organized Preventative Maintenance Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and inspections Check and replace batteries, filters, bulbs, and other routine maintenance items Inspect plumbing, electrical fixtures, locks, appliances, and equipment for developing issues Maintain maintenance records and communicate completed work and outstanding needs with management Identify potential problems early and recommend appropriate repairs or replacement Projects & Improvements Assist with room renovations and property improvement projects Complete basic carpentry, installation, assembly, painting, and repair projects Assist outside contractors and vendors when specialized work is required Prepare rooms and work areas for larger maintenance or renovation projects Participate in seasonal property improvement projects Emergency & Guest Related Maintenance Respond to occasional on call emergency maintenance needs Troubleshoot urgent issues involving plumbing, electrical systems, locks, heating, appliances, or other property equipment Work professionally and respectfully when completing maintenance in occupied guest areas Communicate promptly with management regarding emergencies, significant repairs, or concerns requiring specialized assistance Because we are a small boutique property, maintenance needs can vary from day to day. The overall goal of this position is to keep the hotel safe, functional, well maintained, and looking its best for our guests. Experience General property maintenance and repair experience Basic plumbing repairs and troubleshooting Basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting Basic carpentry and woodworking skills Drywall repair, patching, painting, staining, and caulking Experience using common hand and power tools safely Experience repairing doors, hardware, cabinetry, fixtures, and furniture Basic appliance and equipment troubleshooting Preventative maintenance and routine property inspections Experience completing small renovation or improvement projects Ability to recognize when a repair requires a licensed or specialized contractor Previous hotel or hospitality maintenance experience is helpful but not required. The right candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting everyday maintenance issues, determining an appropriate solution, and completing repairs safely and efficiently. Strong communication, organization, problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently are important for this position. A broad maintenance background is preferred over expertise in one specific trade.
Pay:
$18.75 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 25.0 per weekBenefits:
