Job Summary The Assistant Maintenance Technician supports the Lead Maintenance Technician with daily maintenance activities, equipment repairs, inspections, and maintenance projects. This position performs hands-on troubleshooting and repair of machinery and equipment while helping maintain a safe, efficient production environment. The ideal candidate has basic mechanical and electrical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely both independently and as part of a maintenance and production team.

$24.00-$26.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with on-call availability as needed Key Responsibilities Assist the Lead Maintenance Technician with daily maintenance tasks and projects. Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment upkeep. Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment. Troubleshoot malfunctioning or broken equipment and assist with repairs. Replace worn, damaged, or unsafe machine parts. Assist employees with proper equipment care and maintenance. Follow preventive maintenance procedures and schedules. Read and follow equipment manuals, instructions, schematics, and safety procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Report equipment issues, hazards, and safety concerns promptly. Work independently and collaboratively with maintenance and production personnel. Required Qualifications Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment. Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools. Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, instructions, and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Ability to work independently and effectively with managers and team members. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Previous maintenance, mechanical, or equipment repair experience. Two years of maintenance or industrial equipment experience. Experience with packaging or production equipment. Experience with preventive maintenance programs. Experience reading equipment manuals, schematics, or wiring diagrams. Basic computer skills for maintenance records and documentation. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Training & Certifications The following training/certifications may be provided as required: OSHA or company-required safety training. Electrical safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) training. Forklift certification. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb throughout the workday. Lift, carry, and handle parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Work in tight, confined, or elevated areas. Maintain balance and coordination while working around or on machinery. Work Environment Manufacturing and production environments. Office environments. Exposure to machinery, equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Work in tight or confined spaces as needed. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety procedures. Work independently and alongside production and maintenance personnel. Schedule & Overtime The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. On-call availability may be required based on maintenance needs. Overtime, weekend work, and responding to equipment breakdowns may be required depending on company and maintenance needs. Safety Requirements Follow all company policies and applicable OSHA requirements. Follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment. Use required PPE. Follow electrical, mechanical, and machine-safety procedures. Immediately report hazards and safety concerns to the manager and appropriate personnel.
