A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
We are looking for a part time maintenance person available to work 3-5 days a week. Also willing to travel between two locations, Motel 6 in Sutherlin and Motel 6 in Roseburg. Must be able to pass UA and background check upon being hired. Valid Driver License is required. Job Summary We are looking for someone to maintain and care for the building, equipment, guestrooms and grounds of Motel 6. Respond promptly to any requests for repairs, especially in guest rooms and guest related areas. Ensure all items in guestrooms and equipment is in good working condition for guest use and satisfaction. Education & Experience:
Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Basic math, written and verbal skills are preferred.
Physical requirements:
Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand during entire shift. Ability to reach over head, bend at the waist, work on your knees. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside conditions that may be hot, cold or wet. Must be able to use a ladder, crawl in confined areas and work on mechanical items.
General Requirements:
Flexible schedule, available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. The maintenance schedule is typically Tuesday-Saturday, but may vary based on the needs of the hotel property. Maintenance in an on-call position and must be available by phone to answer questions or for emergencies.
Mental requirements:
Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity while under pressure. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Duties & Functions:
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing proper uniform and name tag when working. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Shanti Management standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to needs of the hotel. Must clock in for each scheduled shift whithin a 5-minute grace period of printed schedule. Comply at all times with Motel 6 Management policies and house rules as well as hospitality terminology. Have knowledge of and assist in emergency procedures as required. Employee may request off 21-days outside of regularly scheduled days per year. Maintain maintenance log on a daily basis, sign off all task when complete, and leave notes if items has not been completed that day and why. Check in with front desk and housekeeping regularly throughout the day for any new immediate tasks that need to handle. Begin each day by reviewing all tasks and maintenance goals with MOD. Write a maintenance order and turn in on the 1st of every month to the General manager. Complete preventative maintenance program on a timely basis. Assist with housekeeping items when requested. Practice safe working conditions under occupational safety and health administration guidelines to include blooborne pathogens. Practice safe chemical handling as prescribed in Safety Date Sheet. Complete all additional duties assigned by General Manager to meet guest or operational needs. Be available for emergency calls on the weekends and in the evening. Assist in distribution of all incoming maintenance supplies, make sure they are organized and distributed to the proper areas. Wear assigned radio throughout day and promptly respond to all maintenance calls. Attends and actively participates in month Team building meeting. Winterize the hotel in the colder months. Run errands/drive to other properties to pick up items in company vehicle. Maintain maintenance office organization and cleanliness. Assist with housekeeping duties/laundry duties/breakfast duties/front desk duties when needed, and all maintenance items are completed for the day. Cross-train specific employees on how to complete minor maintenance task. Complete any regular maintenance/cleaning task recommended by certified pool company. Try to minimize additional costs to hotel properties by completing maintenance tasks in a quick and efficient manner. Work with local vendors to ensure that all equipment is operation and safe for out guests and staff. Landscaping to include weeding/weed prevention, Trimming trees and bushes, mow lawns Complete Preventative Maintenance as required by General Manager, at minimum eash room should be inspected once per quarter.
General Priority of Tasks:
Guest rooms that currently have a guest in house. Guest rooms marked for arrival or noted they need to be done immediately. Public areas/Public usage items/cleanliness of public space (pool,ice machines, breakfast, lobby, parking lot, pet area) Hotel equipment (washer/dryer/front desk computers) Employee space/break areas.
