  • Job Description This role focuses on installing gearboxes on extruder equipment, performing mechanical repairs on industrial production machines throughout the plant, and troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues on industrial machinery.
You will handle preventative and building maintenance as needed, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Responsibilities Install gearboxes on extruder equipment and verify proper alignment and operation. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on industrial equipment and machinery throughout the plant. Perform troubleshooting on production equipment to identify root causes of failures and implement effective solutions. Carry out periodic preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Conduct basic building maintenance tasks as needed to support overall facility operations. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including working with PLC-controlled equipment and changing fuses as required. Use a tape measure accurately to cut metal and other materials to precise dimensions for repairs and installations. Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize and complete work in a deadline-driven environment. Respond to urgent equipment breakdowns, including overtime and occasional Saturday work when gearboxes or critical equipment fail. Maintain and use personal tools and toolbox safely and effectively for daily maintenance tasks. Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status and issues to supervisors and colleagues. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of industrial maintenance experience performing repairs and troubleshooting industrial equipment and machinery, including gearboxes. Proven experience with mechanical maintenance, including installation, repair, and adjustment of industrial components and systems. Hands-on electrical maintenance experience, including troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and changing fuses. Proficiency in using a tape measure and cutting metal accurately to specified dimensions. Experience working with extruder equipment or similar industrial machinery. Ownership of a complete and functional personal toolbox suitable for industrial maintenance work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience balancing both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on mechanical work. Familiarity with troubleshooting and repairing gearboxes on heavy industrial equipment. Comfort working independently and making sound decisions when diagnosing equipment issues. Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven production environment. Willingness to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, based on production and maintenance needs. Work Environment This position is based in a loud, deadline-driven manufacturing plant that operates extrusion equipment for thermoplastic products. The majority of the work is mechanical, with additional electrical troubleshooting responsibilities on PLC-controlled systems. The facility can become very hot, especially during the summer months, so you must be comfortable working in high-temperature conditions. You will train on first shift (7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) for the first four weeks, then transition to an afternoon shift of either 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.-12:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, with a half-hour unpaid lunch and some flexibility on start time. Expect approximately five hours of overtime per week on average, with some weeks requiring additional hours or occasional Saturday work when gearboxes or critical equipment go down. You will work alongside a team of experienced, long-tenured employees in a production-focused environment that emphasizes reliability and teamwork. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boothwyn, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
