Job Description
Are you mechanically inclined, dependable, and interested in building a career in the skilled trades? Summit Academy is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to help maintain our residential youth-treatment campus in Butler County. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent trade-school graduate or someone with general maintenance experience who wants to expand their skills while working in a stable and meaningful environment. Our established campus includes older buildings that require ongoing care, practical problem-solving, and preventive maintenance. The successful candidate will work with experienced staff to keep our facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for the young people and employees who use them every day. Primary Responsibilities Perform general building maintenance and repairs. Assist with basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, and water lines. Assist with basic electrical repairs, such as replacing outlets, switches, fixtures, and lighting components within the employee's training and authorization. Complete carpentry, drywall, painting, hardware, door, and lock repairs. Troubleshoot routine facility problems and promptly report larger or more complex concerns. Conduct preventive maintenance and routine building inspections. Respond to maintenance requests and document completed work. Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas. Assist qualified contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are required. Follow all safety, security, and confidentiality requirements associated with a residential youth-treatment program. Perform other facility-related duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a vocational or trade-school program in building maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC, or a related field; or Previous experience in general building maintenance, construction, property maintenance, or a skilled trade. Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and safe work practices. Willingness to learn and develop skills across multiple maintenance areas. Ability to troubleshoot problems and follow instructions. Dependable attendance and the ability to respond appropriately to urgent maintenance needs. Ability to work respectfully and professionally around students and staff. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, climbing ladders, bending, lifting, and working indoors and outdoors. Because Summit Academy serves young people in a residential setting, employment is contingent upon completion of all required background checks and clearances, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Pennsylvania Criminal History, and FBI fingerprint clearances.
