Job Description

IF YOU ARE DONE BEING CALLED A HELPER, READ THIS PART
You can work. That was never the problem. The problem is that nobody ever taught you anything on purpose, and every place you have been has treated the guy who is not the foreman as a pair of hands that comes back tomorrow. This seat is built the opposite way. You are going to be taught a specific trade by somebody whose actual job description includes teaching you, and there is a certification at the end of it with a raise attached. You do not have to hope somebody notices. The path is written down.
WHAT WE BELIEVE, AND WHAT IT MEANS
If it is not right, we do not move forward. You are allowed to say stop. If something looks wrong to you, saying so is the job, not a complaint about the job. Better than the last floor. You will get feedback after jobs. Direct, specific, not personal. That is how the certification gets earned, and it is the only reason this seat pays what it pays. No one behind us cleans up our work. That runs both directions. You do not leave a mess for the Foreman, and nobody leaves a mess for you.
WHAT YOU OWN
Protecting the house. Masking, containment, tarps, moving what needs moving, and leaving the space cleaner than you found it. The grind. Field grinding, edge work by hand, corners and penetrations with a multi tool, then vacuum and tack until the slab is truly clean. The mix. A and B by weight, tint, coverage rate, pot life. Gallons consumed written on the job file every time. The broadcast. Throw to full rejection, no bare spots, then scrape, vacuum, and reclaim the excess. The equipment. Cleaned, serviced, and reloaded before you go home. Cleats brushed so yesterday's color never lands on today's floor.
A DAY IN THIS SEAT
You help load out and you are on site by 8:30. You mask and protect while the Foreman walks the customer and shoots the arrival video. You run the machine, then you get on your knees and do the part the machine cannot reach. You vacuum, you tack, and the Foreman checks your profile before anything gets mixed. You mix to spec. You cut in, roll, and throw flake to rejection while the base is live, which is the part of this job that is genuinely satisfying and genuinely unforgiving. You eat lunch while it sets. You scrape, vacuum, reclaim, and lay the clear. You clean the equipment properly, load it, and go home having gotten better at something.
WHO THIS IS FOR
You work hard and you have never minded getting dirty, but you are tired of that being the only thing anyone values about you. You want a trade, not a job, and you understand those are different things. You can take direct feedback without going quiet or getting defensive. You are precise about small things. People have probably told you that you are picky. Landscaping, concrete, painting, roofing, warehouse, kitchen work. Where you are coming from matters far less than whether you want to learn this.
WHO THIS IS NOT FOR
Anyone who wants to be left alone to do it their own way. Everything here has a documented way it gets done. Anyone who hides a mistake and hopes the coating covers it. It does not. Anyone who treats cleanup and equipment care as somebody else's problem. Anyone who needs a guaranteed forty hours every week of the year. We will be honest with you about winter before you accept. Anyone who wants to stay an applicator forever. This seat is built to be outgrown.
WHAT WE REQUIRE A
reliable way to get to the jobsite. The physical capacity for a full day on your knees, behind a machine, and lifting equipment with another person. A clean driving record. Enough comfort with a phone to shoot job photos and video and log material use. The willingness to be corrected in the moment, on the floor, in front of the person you are working with. No coatings experience required. We will teach you the trade. We cannot teach you to care.
