Job Description

Building and Equipment MechanicThe ideal candidate will bring energy, initiative, and a solutions-focused mindset to a hands-on role that directly supports production quality and reliability.

In this role, you will maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, newspaper production equipment, and packaging-related equipment within our production facility.

To be successful as a building and equipment mechanic you should demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude along with the abilityto read operational and maintenance manuals including blueprints or schematics and diagnose equipment failures in a deadline driven environment. This individual will work closely with production managers and production teams to assure highest systems reliability to meet our customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, testing and cleaning on a variety of production and building related systems according to established safety procedures and regulationsCoordinate with vendors and contractors to provide the most efficient and cost-effective solution.

Assist in equipment operation as needed.

Requisition parts necessary for equipment repairs.

Operate all power and manual tools in accordance with all health and safety regulations.

Operate various lift equipment including sky lifts, forklifts and clamp trucks.

Minimum qualifications include:

High school diploma or equivalentTrade school degree and/or minimum 5 years newspaper or manufacturing general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience preferred.

General building equipment and HVAC knowledge experience a plus to work with contractors.

General maintenance experience with comprehensive tool knowledge with manual dexterity to complete work task(s).Candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to work with OEM's, Vendors, Managers and Machine Operators.

Basic computer skillsAbility to work in deadline-driven team environment or independently.

Ability to adapt to frequently changing assignments and schedules.

Ability to lift tools, supplies, equipment and other maintenance related items weighing up to 70 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequentlyAbility to work a flexible schedule including day and evening shifts and various days of week.

Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed to cover production schedules.

Starting shift and work hours during training period: Monday-Friday 10 am to 6 pmAbility to work flexible 8 hr. shift between 1 pm to 11 pm after training period. Work schedule may vary depending on assignments and production needs.
