Description

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB

To assist in the maintenance and minor repair of facilities, buses, and other vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB

1. Must perform equipment fueling and servicing. 2. Must perform cleaning of buses, inside and outside, including removal of trash, mopping floor, dusting of seats, ledges and dashboards, cleaning of windshield(s), inside and outside. 3. Must perform preparation of vehicles for maintenance inspections. 4. Must perform replacement of interior and exterior lights, as directed. Must perform tire mounting and dismounting 5. Must perform replacement of marker lights, wiper blades, mirrors and advertising signs (if applicable). 6. Must perform general maintenance of Authority ( company) property as required. 7. Must perform cleaning and maintenance functions in service and garage areas. 8. Must perform placement and removal of advertising signs (if applicable). 9. Must perform proper maintenance of service records. 10. Must perform proper checks and recording of fluid levels. 11. Must perform visual inspections of vehicles for any leaks or other unsafe conditions and damages. 12. Must perform cleaning and maintenance of bus stop shelters and Authority ( company) buildings and facilities. 13. Must perform heavy and light cleaning in vehicles, buildings, halls, offices, shops and yards, as directed. 14. Must perform operation of sweepers and other power cleaning equipment. 15. Must perform maintenance of surrounding walks and grounds including grass mowing and shrubbery trimming and snow removal. 16. Must perform shop and industrial area cleaning. 17. Must perform minor repair work, as directed. 18. Must perform loading/unloading of freight and/or furniture and equipment, as necessary. 19. Must assist Class "A" and "B" Techs and Class "C" Mechanics, as required.

Directly supervised by the lead Technician on duty.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

SKILLS REQUIRED

1. Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. 2. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. 3. Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

ABILITIES

1. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. 2. The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. 3. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. 4. The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. 5. The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. 6. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. 7. The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. 8. The ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, and crawl to access work areas.

WORK CONTEXT

Working environment is generally indoors however some duties require going outside in any weather condition typical of the region. Use of hands feeling and grasping tools and equipment. Spends the majority of time standing. Exposure to hazardous chemicals and equipment is involved. Quality of work is extremely important as it is directly related to public safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of applicable experience preferred. Position is a safety sensitive and subject to substance screening tests as governed by FTA regulations and County policy. Additional Details
