Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform routine grounds maintenance for County parks, facilities and grounds. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Cut grass with hand tools or power equipment. Trims trees and shrubs. Assists with unloading of work trucks and delivery trucks and event set-ups. Assists with site setup of plant materials, flower bed maintenance, lawn maintenance. Ensures that job site staging area is clean and organized. Park cleanup and general restroom maintenance. Picks up all trash in the area and disposes of it properly. Clean and restock restrooms daily. Uses all installation tools according to company safety policy. Complies with safety policies at all times. General repairs and tool maintenance. Marks sports fields. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
