Technicians Horton, Inc. Overview Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Maintenance Technician to work in our Britton, South Dakota location. This is a 1st shift position and standard work hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Occasional overtime may be required.
Position summary:
Performs routine and intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment including CNC mills, manual mills, lathes, drill presses, conveyors, and related production machinery. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations while maintaining equipment uptime and quality standards.

Responsibilities Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance on mills, lathes, drill presses, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and production equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. Repair or replace bearings, belts, motors, pumps, valves, and machine components. Assist with machine alignment, leveling, calibration, and setup. Read blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders. Use precision measuring instruments and maintenance hand tools safely. Support machine changeovers and production startup activities. Maintain accurate maintenance records and parts inventory documentation. Follow OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures. Assist senior technicians with larger repairs and equipment installations. As with everyone on the team, other duties may be assigned in order to support the overall success of the company.
Qualifications Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Advanced knowledge of mills, lathes, drill presses, and machining equipment. Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices. Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying industrial conditions. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed. Valid drivers license. Ability to obtain an industrial power truck license. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided.
Preferred Skills:
Basic PLC troubleshooting experience. Forklift or aerial lift certification. Experience with maintenance systems. 6+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
