Job Description
Peaceful Pines Senior Living is committed to providing exceptional care and service with compassion. Our community offers a total of 60 independent living units, 29 assisted living units, and 32 memory care units located in the beautiful Black Hills. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the exterior of the property including the grounds and landscaping outside during the summer months. During downtime, this position will assist with transports, running errands, and maintenance projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE
Mowing of all lawn areas at cutting heights determined by weather and growing conditions including mowing, trimming, and blowing off all clippings from hard surfaces. Turf will be mowed at a height to maintain good health, typically not removing more than 1/3 of the leaf blade at a time. Turf will be mowed and trimmed weekly unless otherwise specified using mowing patterns that are aesthetically pleasing. Blowing all grass clippings off of the patios, sidewalks, curbs, roads, and other hard surfaces after mowing/trimming is complete as well as keeping them out of plant beds and tree rings. Perform spring cleanup such as removing overgrowth and debris, cutting back perennials when appropriate, trimming larger ornamental grasses, trimming bushes and trees, and removing expired annuals or dead trees and bushes. Fertilize the grass and assist with seeding. Apply a pre-emergent treatment to beds to prevent weed growth as part of a comprehensive approach. Spray weeds and pull them. Aerate the lawn to make it healthier and reduce its maintenance requirements by Improving air exchange between the soil, roots and atmosphere which will enhance soil water penetration, improve fertilizer root absorption, reduce water runoff and puddling, develop stronger turfgrass roots and reduce soil compaction. Perform fall leaf and gutter cleanup services. Perform fall cleanup services featuring precise pruning, selective weeding, and pre-emergent treatment to beds to prevent future weed growth. Assist with getting the lawns and landscaping ready for winter. Help maintain company vehicles and lawn equipment routinely performing preventative maintenance as needed, cleaning and servicing vehicles and equipment, filling them with fuel, and reporting all hazards, issues or damage immediately to your supervisor. Be flexible and available during scheduled hours. All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Compassionate spirit, flexibility, and a lively enthusiasm for working with the elderly. Must have a current and valid South Dakota Driver's License with a clean driving record. Must have good customer service skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moving, lifting or transferring of items may involve lifting up to 75 pounds. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to assist with resident transfers. Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue. Ability to stand for long periods of time up to ½ a shift. Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.COMPENSATION/HOURS/BENEFITS
Part-time, non-exempt, employee of Peaceful Pines Senior Living. Generally, 20-25 hours per week. Hours will be somewhat variable depending on the weather and the needs. Very flexible schedule. May include evenings, nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays during snowstorms but employee will have a choice when they work within certain perimeters.
