Job Description
Overview Matthew Handyman Sioux Falls is seeking a dependable, skilled, and detail-oriented Residential Handyman Technician to perform home repair, maintenance, installation, and improvement projects for residential customers throughout the Sioux Falls area. The technician will handle a variety of interior and exterior projects, including drywall repairs, furniture assembly, window-related work, deck maintenance, fixture installation, carpentry, and general home improvements. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates professionally with homeowners, and can complete projects efficiently while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities Perform residential repair and maintenance projects according to customer requirements Repair holes, cracks, dents, and damaged sections of drywall Complete drywall patching, finishing, sanding, and preparation for painting Assemble furniture, shelving, cabinets, fixtures, and other household items Perform basic carpentry repairs involving trim, molding, doors, frames, and wood components Assist with window replacement, screen repair, frame maintenance, and related installation tasks Perform deck maintenance, including board replacement, minor structural repairs, cleaning, and preparation for refinishing Install and repair household fixtures, hardware, shelving, curtain rods, and similar items Perform minor repairs involving doors, locks, handles, hinges, and other hardware Complete caulking, sealing, patching, and weatherproofing projects Inspect work areas and identify additional repair or maintenance requirements Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and job-site equipment Measure materials accurately and determine the appropriate tools and supplies for each project Protect floors, furniture, walls, and other household surfaces while performing work Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding project progress and completed work Document completed work and report unexpected conditions or additional repair requirements Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition Follow company safety procedures and applicable building and workplace requirements Requirements Previous experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, carpenter, remodeling technician, or residential repair professional preferred Demonstrated ability to perform basic home repairs and installations Strong knowledge of common hand and power tools Ability to read measurements and follow project instructions Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Good customer-service and communication skills Ability to work independently in customers' homes Ability to manage multiple projects and complete assignments within scheduled timeframes Professional appearance and respectful attitude when working in residential properties Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks Preferred Qualifications Experience with drywall repair and finishing Carpentry and finish-trim experience Experience with window and screen installation or repair Experience with deck and exterior maintenance Furniture and cabinet assembly experience Basic knowledge of plumbing fixture installation and minor household repairs Basic knowledge of flooring, painting, caulking, and weatherproofing Previous residential remodeling or property-maintenance experience OSHA or other workplace-safety training is a plus Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar repair problems and determine practical solutions Pay & Benefits Competitive pay: $24 - $30 per hour , based on experience and qualifications Performance-based bonus opportunities Health, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) retirement plan with company matching Paid time off and company holidays Company-provided tools and equipment for applicable projects Ongoing technical and safety training Opportunities for professional advancement Stable, hands-on work environment Why Join Matthew Handyman Sioux Falls?
