Garage Door Service and Installation Technician About Us Dunn & Wright Garage Door Repair (https://dunnwrightgarage.com/) is a veteran-owned garage door service company serving Nashville and the surrounding communities. We provide residential garage door repair, spring replacement, opener repair, preventative maintenance, and new garage door installation. We are building a company known for honest recommendations, quality workmanship, reliable service, and an excellent customer experience. We are looking for a skilled technician who wants to join a growing company and become an important part of our field service team. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Garage Door Service and Installation Technician to perform residential garage door repairs, maintenance, opener work, and new door installations. This is a hands-on field technician position within a growing service team. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, garage door industry experience, excellent customer communication skills, and the ability to independently diagnose problems and complete high-quality repairs. Key Responsibilities Garage Door Service and Repair Diagnose and repair residential garage door systems, including broken springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, bearings, drums, panels, and related components. Troubleshoot and repair garage door openers, sensors, controls, remotes, keypads, and basic electrical components. Perform garage door tune-ups, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance. Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components and explain appropriate repair options to customers. Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Recognize when additional support, parts, or follow-up work may be required. Garage Door and Opener Installation Install residential garage doors, tracks, hardware, springs, openers, and related components. Confirm that installed systems are properly balanced, aligned, secured, programmed, and tested. Remove and properly dispose of replaced doors, openers, and components when required. Maintain a clean and organized work area at each customer's home. Protect the customer's garage, driveway, vehicles, and personal property during installation work. Customer Service Arrive on time and maintain a professional appearance. Communicate clearly, respectfully, and honestly with homeowners. Explain inspection findings, repair options, pricing, and completed work in understandable terms. Provide appropriate recommendations without using high-pressure sales tactics. Answer customer questions and provide maintenance and operating guidance. Keep customers informed of delays, parts needs, or follow-up requirements. Work to ensure that each customer has a positive experience with Dunn & Wright. Safety and Quality Follow company procedures and all applicable safety requirements. Properly use ladders, winding bars, power tools, lifting equipment, and personal protective equipment. Recognize unsafe conditions and stop work when a repair cannot be completed safely. Complete final safety and operational checks before returning a garage door or opener to service. Maintain consistent workmanship and installation standards. Participate in periodic quality reviews, training, and coaching. Inventory, Vehicle, and Equipment Maintain an organized company vehicle with the commonly needed parts and supplies for scheduled service calls. Monitor inventory and promptly communicate restocking needs. Properly maintain company tools, equipment, uniforms, and vehicles. Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning tools and equipment. Follow company vehicle, fuel, maintenance, and driving policies. Keep the company vehicle clean and presentable. Documentation and Technology Accurately document inspections, recommendations, work completed, materials used, and customer approvals. Complete estimates, invoices, service reports, photographs, payment processing, and job closeout procedures promptly. Use the company's scheduling, dispatching, invoicing, and customer communication systems. Communicate job status, delays, parts needs, and follow-up requirements. Maintain accurate records of installed equipment, warranties, and completed repairs. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Previous hands-on experience repairing or installing residential garage doors. Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of residential garage door springs, cables, tracks, rollers, hardware, and opener systems. Ability to independently diagnose common garage door problems and complete repairs safely. Strong customer service and communication skills. Dependable, organized, and able to follow established procedures. Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment. Valid driver's license and a clean, insurable driving record. Ability to pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record check as a condition of employment. Must remain eligible to operate a company vehicle under the company's insurance requirements. Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for dispatching, documentation, estimates, invoices, and customer communication. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Ability to climb and work from ladders. Ability to work with arms overhead for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, and work in residential garages. Ability to safely handle garage door panels, tracks, openers, springs, and related equipment. Ability to work in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of residential garage door repair and installation experience. Experience with torsion spring systems. Experience installing and servicing major garage door opener brands. Experience installing complete residential garage door systems. Experience using field service management, invoicing, or dispatching software. Relevant technical training or industry certifications are helpful but not required. Schedule and Availability Full-time position. Typical schedule will include weekday service calls and installations. Some evening, weekend, or emergency availability may be required. The technician must communicate promptly regarding schedule changes, delays, or availability issues. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
