Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities Basic Company Requirements Observe all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, performing duties safely, efficiently, and courteously always. Read and comprehend written procedures (in English) for maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment. Follow written and verbal instructions from supervision, management, and engineering teams. Perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for maintenance calculations. Know, understand, and comply with all attendance policies and procedures. Lead by example in professionalism, work ethic, and consistent adherence to company expectations. Assist in training and mentoring maintenance team members to ensure skill development and consistency in work quality. B. Safety and Environmental Requirements Properly don, use, and always maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Read, understand, and apply information from Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to safely handle and store chemicals. Safely perform maintenance around solvents (such as methanol), acids (such as nitric acid), and bases (such as 50% sodium hydroxide), or other hazardous or potentially hazardous chemicals. Understand and follow company emergency response procedures. Complete monthly and annual safety training on time (both in-person and computer-based). Immediately report all spills, leaks, injuries, mischarges, or unsafe conditions to the Supervisor and/or Management. Maintain a safe work environment through active participation in hazard identification and corrective action programs. Understand and follow procedures for line breaks, hot work, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), and confined space entry. Demonstrate environmental responsibility by preventing ground, water, and air pollution through proper maintenance and waste management practices. Promote a proactive safety culture by conducting pre-task risk assessments and encouraging safe work practices among peers. C. Maintenance Work Requirements Maintain a thorough understanding of process safety requirements including, LOTO, confined space, and hot work permits in a chemical plant environment. Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on process equipment, including reactors, vessels, storage tanks, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, forklifts, compressors, and plant utility systems. Inspect and maintain process piping systems for leaks, corrosion, erosion, and mechanical integrity. Execute and oversee preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on schedule to minimize unplanned downtime and equipment failure. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues using root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions. Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work orders, repairs, inspections, and parts usage in the provided log. Manage spare parts inventory to maintain availability of critical components such as bearings, seals, motors, valves, and gearbox parts. Collaborate with Operations, and Safety teams to identify reliability improvements and equipment upgrades. Support plant safety and reliability by immediately addressing equipment issues and recommending process improvements. Participate in plant housekeeping, including spill cleanup, waste segregation, and maintaining maintenance shop organization. Provide timely updates to supervisors and operators regarding repair progress, completion, and follow-up actions. Coordinate outside contractors and vendors when necessary, ensuring compliance with site safety and work standards. Respond to "on-call" maintenance needs outside normal working hours as required. Contribute to training documentation and standard work procedures for key equipment and maintenance processes. Coach and guide maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repair techniques. Promote teamwork and effective communication between Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, and cost reduction. Support the plant in planning major shutdowns, capital projects, and resource allocation. Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) sessions and document lessons learned to prevent recurrence. Perform other duties as assigned by plant management.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years' experience maintaining plant or industrial equipment (mechanical focus). Working knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, tanks, and utility systems. Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and repair skills. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and safely move heavy equipment (up to 600 lbs) using proper tools and assistance. Comfortable wearing required PPE, including full-face respirators. Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Willingness to work on-call and respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
