Job Description

Position Description Perform day-to-day floor care and cleaning services in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or supervisor. Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and preserving all hard flooring surfaces, carpets, and general building areas in a timely, sanitary, and visually appealing manner to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Pay:
$14-$16/hr. Principal Responsibilities Performs a variety of floor maintenance duties, including sweeping, dry/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing hard floors, and vacuuming or deep-cleaning carpets. Receives assignments from supervisor and follows daily schedules and procedures as outlined for the floor care and housekeeping department. Safely operates, cleans, and maintains heavy floor machinery, such as auto-scrubbers, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, and wet/dry vacuums. Places proper hazard warning signs (e.g., "Wet Floor") in work areas and ensures safety protocols are strictly followed to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Handles, dilutes, and uses floor care chemicals, strippers, finishes, and disinfectants safely according to OSHA and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidelines. Reports equipment malfunctions, physical plant repairs, supply needs, unsafe conditions, or floor damage promptly to the supervisor. Maintains floor care equipment, storage closets, carts, and work areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition. Follows facility policies and procedures related to infection control, chemical handling, resident rights, confidentiality, and overall safety. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalency preferred. Prior experience in floor care, carpet maintenance, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning preferred. Ability to operate commercial floor equipment (buffers, scrubbers, extractors) safely and effectively. Must be able to read chemical labels, follow safety instructions, and understand SDS sheets. Experience in a skilled nursing facility, healthcare facility, school, hotel, or commercial building setting preferred but not required.
