Facilities Maintenance Technician Job Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician oversees building and facility maintenance within a plant environment, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained workspace. This role combines hands-on repair work, basic construction tasks, and coordination with subcontractors, and is ideal for someone who is motivated, dependable, and eager to grow in maintenance. Responsibilities Perform general building and facilities maintenance across the plant, ensuring equipment, structures, and common areas remain in good working order. Apply proper Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to maintain safety during maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities. Build and assemble tables, panels, and other fixtures needed in the plant, using appropriate tools and materials. Hang and mount components around the facility, including panels, fixtures, and other structural elements. Use drills, hand tools, and other basic equipment to complete maintenance, repair, and light construction tasks safely and efficiently. Assist with drywall work, including basic installation, patching, and repairs as needed within the facility. Conduct troubleshooting and basic repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing issues within the plant environment. Perform preventive maintenance activities to reduce downtime and extend the life of facility equipment and systems. Walk subcontractors through the building during projects, ensuring they understand the facility layout and access requirements. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support facility-related projects and resolve maintenance concerns. Work independently as the sole maintenance technician in the building, proactively identifying tasks and addressing issues without extensive supervision. Support various facility needs as they arise, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to assist wherever needed. Essential Skills Hands-on experience or strong aptitude in facilities maintenance or building maintenance tasks. Knowledge and practical understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) safety procedures. Ability to use drills, hand tools, and basic maintenance equipment comfortably and safely. Basic skills in drywall work, including mounting, patching, or installation. Ability to perform troubleshooting and basic repairs on mechanical systems. Ability to assist with electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing-related maintenance tasks. Strong self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently as the only maintenance technician on-site. Dependable work ethic with a consistent and reliable approach to attendance and task completion. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Comfort guiding and coordinating subcontractors around the facility during projects. Additional Skills & Qualifications Open to entry-level candidates who are interested in starting a career in maintenance. Interest in developing skills in preventive maintenance and facilities operations. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled plant environment that promotes comfort and safety throughout the workday. Work is performed on-site using standard hand tools, drills, and basic maintenance equipment. The position offers flexible Monday-Friday scheduling, with the option to choose from three shifts: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, providing consistent daytime hours and a stable workweek. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
