Position Summary The Maintenance Mechanic will perform hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on steam chest molding presses, boilers, steam distribution systems, and supporting plant equipment to maximize uptime, safety, and product quality. This role is third shift and is onsite at our Mt. Pleasant, TN plant. Equipment & Systems Troubleshoot and repair steam chest molding machines (EPS/EPP presses), including molds, tooling, valves, actuators, seals, and hydraulic/pneumatic components Perform electrical troubleshooting on press controls, motor starters, contactors, sensors, and wiring Support boiler operation and repair, and maintain steam distribution components (piping, traps, condensate return, pressure regulators) Maintain compressed air, vacuum, and cooling water systems tied to the molding process Service material handling equipment (silos, pre-expanders, conveyors, blowers, robotic pick-and-place/demolding units) Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, HMIs, sensors, and automation tied to molding cycles (program changes escalated to Maintenance Manager or controls specialist as needed) Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Complete scheduled PM tasks on molds, presses, boilers, and steam lines per the maintenance schedule Perform steam trap inspections and surveys; report and repair failed traps Assist with predictive maintenance activities (vibration checks, thermal imaging readings, oil sampling) as directed Inspect mold venting, wear points, and condition; report degradation to Maintenance Manager Accurately log completed work, parts used, and findings in the CMMS or work order system Breakdown Response & Repair Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, prioritizing safety and minimizing downtime Diagnose root cause of electrical and mechanical failures, not just symptoms Perform emergency repairs, including after-hours/on-call response as scheduled Communicate repair status and estimated time to repair clearly to production and the Maintenance Manager Recommend spare parts needs based on recurring failures
