POSITION SUMMARY
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a part-time Facilities Maintenance located in Newbern. Two years of full-time maintenance experience in a variety of construction, maintenance, and industrial/commercial work is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the materials, methods, and principles used in a variety of construction and maintenance jobs and projects. Knowledge of accepted construction methods to determine the cost of a particular job. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Perform repairs and/or installation of facilities systems. Provide input to facilities operational budget. Establish and carry out a preventive maintenance program. Provide directions to helpers and less qualified. Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs skilled maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry as needed. Makes on-site inspections of jobs to determine what materials and supplies were actually used as well as inspecting quality of work. Orders materials and supplies as needed for various jobs. Confers with higher-level supervisor concerning problems with work assignment or personnel. Performs other work as assigned. Custodial/Janitorial work as needed.
SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
Salary is in accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines and the TCAT Northwest Compensation Plan. Background checks are conducted on all full-time and part-time employees prior to hiring.
