Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on keeping high-speed food manufacturing lines operating reliably by performing mechanical repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance on production equipment. You will work hands-on with tools and machinery to minimize downtime and support a safe, efficient, and consistent manufacturing process. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on food and beverage production equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on production lines, including components such as gearboxes and related assemblies. Use hand tools, including wrenches and screwdrivers, to adjust, align, and repair machinery and equipment. Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, potential failures, and opportunities for improvement in reliability and performance. Support production teams by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and restoring equipment to service as quickly and safely as possible. Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately to support maintenance planning and continuous improvement. Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production staff to prioritize work and coordinate maintenance tasks around production schedules. Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on machinery, tools, and equipment in a food manufacturing environment. Essential Skills At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience in a production environment within the food or beverage industry. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience performing repairs and adjustments on production equipment. Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices, including inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and replacement of mechanical components. Experience working with gearboxes and other mechanical drive components. Ability to use common hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers safely and effectively. Capability to troubleshoot equipment issues under time pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness and ability to work first or second shift as needed, including extended hours and frequent weekend work during busy periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on high-speed food or beverage manufacturing lines. Comfort working as part of a maintenance team supporting a large production workforce. Strong communication skills to coordinate with production staff and fellow technicians. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a food manufacturing plant as part of a maintenance team of approximately 15 technicians, supporting a facility with over 200 production employees. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety and equipment reliability. Steel-toe footwear is required as part of the dress code. First shift typically starts around 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and usually ends around 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of working longer as needed. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with frequent Saturday and Sunday work, particularly during busy seasons. Opportunities are available on both first and second shifts, providing exposure to a wide range of equipment and production processes in a collaborative, hands-on setting.
