JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Door & Glass Technician / Glazier who can seamlessly handle the end-to-end lifecycle of a project—from initial field estimates and scheduling to hands-on installation. The ideal candidate is a true craftsman with deep experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting hollow metal doors, frames, and commercial storefront glass systems. Experience with overhead door repairs is a major plus. If you are a skilled glazier and door mechanic who takes pride in high-quality work and strong customer relationships, we want you on our team. Key Responsibilities1. Installation & Field Glazing Install, repair, and replace commercial storefront aluminum systems, glass units, and hollow metal doors and frames. Perform glazier duties, including cutting, fitting, setting, and weatherproofing/caulking glass in storefront assemblies. Install and adjust commercial door hardware, including door closers, exit devices (panic bars), continuous hinges, and locksets. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, frame alignments, and overhead door assemblies. Utilize power tools, glass handling equipment, and precise measurement devices safely and efficiently. 2. Estimating & Scoping Conduct detailed on-site field surveys and precise measurements for replacement glass, storefront frames, and custom door fitments. Evaluate job site conditions and read blueprints/schematics to determine necessary labor, materials, and hardware. Generate accurate material lists and job estimates to support competitive project bidding. 3. Scheduling & Job Coordination Help coordinate project timelines and manage installation schedules to ensure on-time delivery. Communicate directly with business owners, contractors, and internal team members regarding job scope, material arrivals, and site visits. Maintain clear record-keeping of work orders, measurements, and client approvals.
Qualifications & Experience Industry Experience:
Proven experience as a Commercial Glazier, Commercial Door Technician, or Storefront Installer.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency with storefront systems, hollow metal doors, glass installation, and heavy commercial hardware. (Overhead door repair experience is a strong plus).
Glazing Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of standard commercial glass types (tempered, laminated, insulated units) and proper glazing sealants/caulking techniques.
Tools & Equipment:
Proficient with power tools, trim carpentry tools, and glazing tools (suction lifters, setting blocks, channel tools).
Soft Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Customer Focus:
Clean, professional demeanor with a commitment to delivering top-tier customer service in the field.
Requirements:
Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record; ability to lift heavy materials (75+ lbs) and work on ladders/scaffolds.
