PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate a variety of motorized equipment such as lawnmower, tractor with various attachments, top dresser, sod cutter, turf sweeper, paint sprayer, weed-eater, edger, blower, and other related maintenance and landscaping equipment. Operate a variety of hand tools. Perform tasks related to maintenance and preparation of athletic fields, parklands and other municipal grounds. Clean facility and park restrooms. Assist in the maintenance of Parks and Recreation facilities. Perform preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment. Inspect equipment before use. Maintain clean and safe operating conditions. Collect trash from city parks and other city properties. Assist with landscape installation, ball field renovation and preparation, and special events preparations. Represent the City in a professional and courteous manner.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Subject to after-hours call out for emergency situations. Perform duties of Activity Center Attendant as needed. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Ability to climb ladders while cleaning, painting, and various other construction, maintenance, and repair duties. Bend, climb, crawl, kneel, run, sit, squat, stand, stoop and walk freely while working for long periods of time. Ability to hear clearly when working around equipment. Ability to operate various push type or handheld power tools. Ability to work outside in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather. Ability to maneuver and work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Ability to withstand exposure to grease and oils, fumes from fuel and exhaust, vibrations, and noise. Ability to work in or with water.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas Drivers License. Driving record must be satisfactory according to the City of Jacksboro and departmental rules and regulations. Experience in parks, recreation, landscape maintenance, ground maintenance or related field.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Skill in all forms of communications with people of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Experience in managing multiple priorities. Skill in effective public relations. Skill and experience in effective personnel management. Skill in computer operation. Qualifications Applicants must have sufficient experience with mowing, weed-eating and other landscaping tasks to be able to work without direct supervision. Special Requirements Applicants must complete a City of Jacksboro application and will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be considered for employment. Applicants must have a valid Texas Driver License with clean driving record.
