W-2, Hourly, Non-Exempt About the Position Valiant Grounds & Facility Services is looking for dependable Grounds Maintenance Crew Members / Field Services Technicians to join our growing field team in Rosenberg, Texas and surrounding communities. This is a hands-on outdoor position. Employees will work as part of a crew performing mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, vegetation clearing, property cleanup, debris removal, and other grounds and facility-support services. You do not need to be a professional landscaper. Previous outdoor, grounds-maintenance, landscaping, construction, cleanup, warehouse, facility-services, or similar hands-on experience is helpful, but we are also willing to consider dependable applicants who are willing and able to learn. The most important things we need are people who show up when scheduled, follow instructions, work safely, stay productive, take care of equipment, and care about completing the job correctly. Valiant is a growing small business, and management is focused on expanding the company, building the operation, and bringing in more business. We are building a reliable field team that can grow with the company as additional work becomes available. Hours will vary depending on available work, weather, and client assignments and are not guaranteed. When scheduled for a field assignment and reporting as instructed ready to work, employees will receive a minimum of four paid hours for that scheduled work period unless notified of cancellation before reporting. What You Will Do Crew Members work under the direction of the Crew Lead or management and may be responsible for: Mowing grass using approved mowing equipment. Using string trimmers/weed eaters around fences, trees, structures, sidewalks, curbs, and other areas that cannot be reached with a mower, including removing grass and vegetation growing through or embedded in fence lines. Edging sidewalks, curbs, and other areas when required. Using blowers and other approved equipment to clean sidewalks, pavement, and work areas. Clearing weeds, brush, vegetation, and overgrowth as assigned. Assisting with vacant-lot, code-compliance, commercial, and other property-maintenance work. Picking up litter, trash, junk, vegetation, and other ordinary non-hazardous debris when instructed. Bagging, containing, loading, and securing approved debris for removal. Loading and unloading mowers, string trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, hand tools, and other equipment. Keeping tools, equipment, trailers, vehicles, and work areas organized. Following the Crew Lead's work plan and completing assigned sections of a property or jobsite. Using equipment only when trained or authorized to operate it. Taking reasonable precautions to avoid damaging fences, trees, landscaping, pavement, structures, vehicles, and other property. Reporting property damage, unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or unusual jobsite conditions immediately. Assisting with before-and-after photographs or other basic job documentation when requested. Traveling with the crew between assigned properties and jobsites. Performing other related grounds and facility-support duties within the employee's training and assigned responsibilities. Debris and Property Cleanup Some assignments may involve property cleanup and debris removal in addition to grounds maintenance. Crew Members may be expected to: Pick up and load ordinary trash, litter, vegetation, brush, and other approved non-hazardous debris. Place debris in designated bags, containers, trucks, trailers, or collection areas. Help secure debris for transportation. Follow Crew Lead instructions regarding what debris is approved for removal. Do not remove additional, unusual, or questionable debris without approval from the Crew Lead or management. Immediately report needles or sharps, chemicals, suspicious containers, hazardous-looking materials, or anything you are unsure is safe to handle. Assist with unloading or disposal activities when assigned. Crew Members are not responsible for determining client pricing, additional charges, or whether work outside the assigned scope should be performed. Those decisions are handled by the Crew Lead and management. Other Grounds & Facility Services Valiant Grounds & Facility Services performs more than mowing. Depending on company workload, client needs, and your training, assignments may also include: Pressure washing and exterior surface cleaning. Storm-related property cleanup. Brush, limb, and vegetation cleanup. Vacant-property cleanup. Light non-hazardous debris removal. Exterior property and facility cleanup. Commercial or municipal grounds maintenance. General property-maintenance work. Other related grounds and facility-support assignments. We are looking for employees who are willing to learn and flexible enough to assist with different types of field work as the company grows. Employees will not be expected to perform specialized, hazardous, licensed, or unfamiliar work without appropriate authorization, training, equipment, and supervision. Equipment and Safety Crew Members are expected to: Follow instructions regarding safe equipment use. Operate only equipment they have been trained or authorized to use. Inspect equipment before use as instructed and report damage, defects, or unsafe conditions to the Crew Lead. Use required safety equipment and personal protective equipment for the assignment. Keep equipment reasonably clean and organized. Help secure tools and equipment during transportation. Follow company, client, and jobsite safety requirements. Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, or unsafe conditions. Company Identification and Jobsite Requirements Employees working on Valiant assignments are expected to: Wear a VGFS safety/identification vest or other company-issued identifying gear when required. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the assigned field work and jobsite conditions. Use required personal protective equipment for the assignment. Keep company-issued identifying gear in usable condition. Follow any client or jobsite-specific identification and safety requirements. Required company-identifying gear and applicable job-specific safety equipment will be provided or specified by Valiant. What We Need From You Dependable and punctual. Able to report to work at the scheduled time and remain productive throughout the assignment. Willing and able to follow instructions from the Crew Lead and management. Able to work effectively as part of a field crew. Willing to perform outdoor, physical work. Some experience with lawn mowers, string trimmers/weed eaters, blowers, pressure washers, hand tools, or similar equipment is preferred, but not required for every applicant. Willing and able to learn the safe use of equipment required for assigned work. Willing to assist with different Valiant grounds and facility-service assignments when properly trained. Comfortable working outdoors in heat, sun, humidity, and other normal Houston-area weather conditions. Able to perform the essential physical duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Comfortable walking on uneven ground, bending, reaching, carrying equipment, loading materials, and performing repeated mowing, trimming, cleanup, or similar physical work. Willing to travel with the crew to nearby cities and communities when assignments require it. Comfortable using a smartphone for basic communication, photographs, or job documentation when requested. A driver's license is preferred but is not required for assignments that do not involve driving. Employees assigned to drive company, rental, or approved personal vehicles may be asked to authorize verification of their driving record as required for the assignment, insurance coverage, or rental-provider requirements. Driving history will be considered in relation to the assigned duties and does not automatically disqualify an applicant. Applicants with prior criminal records are encouraged to apply. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant. Certain assignments may require job-related background screening or client/site-specific clearance requirements. Transportation and Reporting to Work A personal vehicle is not required for every assignment. Employees may report directly to the jobsite or to a company-designated pickup location. When Valiant provides or arranges transportation, employees must be fully dressed, prepared, and ready before the scheduled pickup time. If pickup is at 6:30 a.m., you should be ready before 6:30 a.m. so the crew can leave on time. Employees assigned to drive company, rental, or approved personal vehicles must meet applicable company, insurance, rental-provider, and driving requirements. What We Offer $19.00 to $22.00 per hour , based on relevant experience, equipment ability, and assigned responsibilities. Minimum of four paid hours for scheduled field assignments when reporting as instructed and ready to work, unless notified of cancellation before reporting. W-2 employment.
