Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining Ready Mix Concrete Trucks, Block Trucks, Heavy Equipment, and other company vehicles. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and the ability to perform quality inspections and documentation of work. The mechanic ensures equipment reliability, compliance with safety standards, and supports overall operations by keeping company vehicles and equipment in safe, working order. Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions) Repair Ready Mix Concrete Trucks, Block Trucks, Heavy Equipment, and other motor vehicles as needed. Perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance. Use diagnostic tools to test and evaluate vehicle and equipment components. Conduct quality inspections before returning vehicles and equipment to service. Prepare daily written reports of services and repairs performed. Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair vehicle air conditioning systems. Develop reports in line with company reporting guidelines. Receive and respond to electronic dispatches via personal smartphone. Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area.

Working knowledge of specialized tooling and shop equipment, including light welding. Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, transmissions, drive axles, and brakes. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently or collaboratively. Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Strong communication skills. Technician or Mechanical License in Automotive. Experience with automotive air conditioning repair and troubleshooting. Ability to maintain certifications and endorsements required by DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and company safety programs. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Two-year technical school graduate preferred. Minimum of three years of experience. Other Qualifications ASE certifications preferred but not required. EPA-approved R-12/R134a certification for recycling/recovery. Two-year technical school graduate preferred. Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment at all times. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
