Job Description

About the Position The Service Technician III is the third level individual contributor in the Service Technician job family. This position will be responsiblefor performing general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance with all Material Handling Equipment involving all customers and vendors of Kenco Fleet Services. Functions Repair and maintain all Material Handling Equipment, automated systems, and conveyorsusing standards set by site Responsible for resolving all service, parts, and warranty issues, escalating when necessary to leadership. Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on intricate material handling equipment systems Actively train, mentor, and share technical expertise with other technicians to support continuous learning and achievement of shop goals. Inspects forklifts,automated systems, conveyors,and other operating equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards. Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, automated systems, and conveyors,or other components on material handling equipment. Manage equipment condition and support repair readiness by reporting damage, coordinating required parts, and maintaining accurate service and inventory records. Communicate with Parts team on parts and supplies needed to maintain equipment. Take ownership of challenging service situations without waiting for direction, proactively communicating issues and proposing solutions to customers and leadership Assess and prioritize competing service requests based on urgency, customer impact, safety considerations, equipment downtime costs, and contractual service level agreements Maintain parts inventory and repair records for all equipment by completing accurate paperwork. Conducts test of safety equipment to ensure OSHA and operational standards. Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records. Must interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner. Comprehend and actively work toward achieving site-specific Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and metrics. Adhere to 5S workplace organization principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain general cleanliness and ensure an organized efficient and safe service area at all times. Support the Kenco Operating System by identifying ways to work more safely, efficiently, and effectively, and sharing ideas that help the team and company get better Qualifications High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate required. 4-6 years of mechanic experience preferred; preferably prior experience with repair and maintenance of material handling or similar equipment. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on multiple types of equipment. Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics. Ability to lead others and interact with customers. Must be able to frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Supply own mechanic technician hand tools. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Must be able to safely operate lift trucks. Travel Requirements This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less.
