Job Description
Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and performance optimization of production and packaging equipment in our nutraceutical manufacturing facility. This role involves ensuring equipment operates efficiently and reliably, minimizing downtime, and performing routine maintenance and emergency repairs. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on production and packaging equipment to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on equipment such as kettles, pumps, conveyors, fillers, and packaging machines. Ensure all equipment is compliant with company SOPs and safety regulations, and is calibrated for optimal function. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, performing diagnostics and repairs to minimize downtime. Work with the production team to ensure quick return to normal operations, and document any downtime events or repairs performed. Maintain a systematic approach to troubleshooting, ensuring that all issues are tracked and resolved efficiently. Conduct regular calibrations of machines, weighing systems, metal detectors, and other critical production equipment. Ensure calibration records are properly maintained and compliant with FDA regulations and cGMP guidelines. Ensure that all equipment and tools are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and properly maintained to avoid contamination. Adhere to all food safety, allergen control, and cleanliness protocols as per the company's hygiene and GMP standards. Work closely with the production team to ensure that sanitation procedures are performed correctly, especially in allergen-sensitive areas. Comply with all safety regulations and practices to ensure a safe working environment. Monitor equipment to ensure environmental health standards are maintained, including waste disposal and chemical handling. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or Associate's degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining production and/or packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the nutraceutical, food, or pharmaceutical industries. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Experience with automated production equipment and troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance practices, including PLCs, conveyors, fillers, and packaging machinery. Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the plant's production and packaging equipment, directly impacting product quality, efficiency, and uptime.
