Job Description
Maintenance Mechanic (Several Shifts - Universal Fibers, Inc., Bristol, VA) We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Mechanic at Universal Fibers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair machinery, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations. Entry level is encouraged to apply. Welding experience is necessary.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on machinery and equipment, including but not limited to motors, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize production. Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance plans, schedules, and procedures. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory of spare parts. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of new technologies and equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize equipment performance and reliability. Assist in equipment installation, commissioning, and modification projects as required.Pay:
$22 starting based on experience ( no top out).Shift:
Upstream Maintenance:
5 AM to 5 PM with opportunity for swing shift (month of days, month of nights). Needs to be flexible with days and nights.Downstream Maintenance:
6 PM to 6 AMwith opportunity for swing shift (month of days, month of nights). Needs to be flexible with days and nights.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Knowledge of maintenance best practices, including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance. Familiarity with industrial equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Basic understanding of electrical systems and ability to work collaboratively with the electrical maintenance team. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
