The Maintenance Technician role within the Hotel industry is critical to ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of facility equipment and infrastructure. This position focuses on proactively identifying potential issues before they escalate into costly repairs or operational downtime, thereby supporting a seamless guest experience. The successful candidate will develop and implement maintenance schedules, conduct regular inspections, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to address maintenance needs promptly. By maintaining high standards of equipment reliability and safety compliance, this role directly contributes to the overall operational excellence and reputation of the establishment. Ultimately, the Preventative Maintenance professional plays a vital role in preserving asset longevity and optimizing facility performance in a dynamic hospitality environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in preventative maintenance or facilities maintenance, preferably within the accommodation or food service industry. Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and maintenance logs. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between multiple facility locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical certification or associate degree in facilities management, HVAC, electrical, or related field. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills specific to hospitality equipment. Previous experience working in a fast-paced accommodation or food service environment.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance plans for all facility equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen appliances. Perform routine inspections and diagnostic tests to identify wear, malfunctions, or safety hazards, documenting findings and initiating corrective actions. Coordinate with external contractors and internal departments to schedule and oversee maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations. Maintain accurate maintenance records, track work orders, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and troubleshoot issues to restore functionality efficiently.

The required skills enable the candidate to perform detailed inspections and maintenance tasks effectively, ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently. Proficiency in reading technical documentation and using diagnostic tools is essential for identifying potential issues early. Communication and coordination skills are used daily to liaise with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to schedule maintenance with minimal operational impact. Preferred skills such as familiarity with CMMS software enhance the ability to track maintenance activities and analyze equipment performance trends. Additionally, knowledge of safety regulations and troubleshooting techniques supports a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and reliable facility environment.
