Updated 08/31/2026 Job Description Job Summary Position Summary We are seeking a courteous, dependable, and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the daily maintenance and upkeep of an aviation facility. This temporary position is responsible for basic repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, facility cleanliness, and assisting with renovation activities. A key responsibility of this position is escorting visitors who do not have an approved airport badge. The technician must remain with unbadged visitors while they are within areas requiring an escort and consistently demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and awareness when interacting with visitors, coworkers, vendors, and contractors. Key Responsibilities Perform general facility cleaning and custodial activities, including dusting, mopping, and trash collection. Perform minor building repairs, including repairing locks and filling gaps or other minor defects. Inspect and maintain electrical circuitry and perform basic electrical maintenance. Install appliances, equipment, and other facility components. Replace light bulbs and perform routine maintenance tasks. Inspect, troubleshoot, and assist with maintenance of building equipment and systems, including ventilation. Check the functionality of facility safety systems, including fire alarm systems. Assist workers, vendors, contractors, and other professionals during renovations and facility projects. Report facility conditions, equipment issues, and maintenance concerns to the appropriate manager. Install, maintain, or repair heating and refrigeration units as appropriate to the technician's skill level. Paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed. Assist with preparing job estimates when requested. Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and facility requirements. Escort visitors who do not have an approved airport badge and ensure they are accompanied as required. Perform other facility maintenance and custodial duties as assigned. Requirements Required Qualifications Courteous and professional demeanor with coworkers, visitors, vendors, contractors, and other facility personnel. Ability to successfully complete the required 10-year background check and airport badging process. Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and participate in random testing as required. Valid state-issued driver's license. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings, instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine correspondence and provide clear verbal and written updates. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, clients, coworkers, and visitors. Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Experience using hand tools and power/electrical tools. Ability to apply common-sense understanding when following detailed written or verbal instructions. Physical stamina and dexterity necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous facilities maintenance experience. Successful completion of an apprenticeship or relevant technical training. What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically capable, and comfortable handling a variety of hands-on facility maintenance tasks. Because escorting unbadged visitors is an important part of this position, the ideal candidate will also be consistently courteous, professional, attentive, and comfortable interacting with people throughout the facility.
