Job Description
Overview The Maintenance Technician is a full-time position on the Pamunkey Indian Reservation. The position will be instrumental in implementing the Pamunkey Indian Tribe's building and grounds maintenance activities. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the upkeep of the tribal grounds, buildings and equipment. Responsibilities
- Performs routine maintenance around buildings that does not require specialized trade. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, board replacement for ramps, light fixtures, HVAC, Tribal signage, and repairing doors;
- Maintains grounds by lawnmowing, trimming, and minor landscaping;
- Prepares and executes Work Orders in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor;
- Fixes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries;
- Inspects and identifies assigned equipment in need of repair;
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs;
- Procures supplies and materials for repairs;
- Identifies maintenance issues beyond internal capabilities and works with department heads/administration to procure required maintenance contractor services to include providing advice regarding scope of work and onsite monitoring/inspecting contractor work;
- Follows the applicable Tribal laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Experience
- Demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar position.
- Ability to follow instructions; responds to management direction and adapts to frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events.
- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building;
- Ability to operate a riding lawnmower, backhoe, and weed eater;
- Experience using hand and electrical tools;
- Ability to read technical manuals;
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees, contractors or visitors in a pleasant manner;
- Attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
- Ability to sustain prolonged periods standing and walking;
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl;
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- High school diploma or GED.
