Maintenance Technician Hours:
7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Summer hours.
Winter work hours:
To Be Determined. Start and end times may vary, depending on weather conditions and work requirements.
Days:
8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 260 working days
Location:
District-wide General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general building maintenance throughout the district. Primary emphasis will be placed on HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and other mechanical systems associated with school facilities and their operation. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Physical ability to perform required maintenance duties. Valid Washington State Specialty Electrician License (06A) required. Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC, electrical, controls, mechanical, plumbing, and related building systems. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and dependability. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school maintenance, commercial building maintenance, or a related field. Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Ability to identify problems and develop effective solutions. Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete multiple projects and assignments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to work effectively with staff, administrators, students, contractors, and the public. Valid Washington State driver's license Required Licenses and Certifications Required HVAC/Boiler-related certification or license Washington State Specialty Electrician License (06A) Washington State Driver's License Preferred Washington State Journeyman Electrician License (01) Natural Gas Installation License - or willing to obtain within 180 days. Refrigeration Certification (Type I & II) First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain; training provided by Deer Park School District) Essential Job Responsibilities HVAC Systems Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair: Boilers (gas and electric) Chillers Condensing units Fan coil units Heat pumps Controls equipment (valves, actuators, dampers, etc.) Thermostats Cooling towers Pumps, motors, fans, and related equipment Direct Digital Controls (DDC) Automated Logic systems (preferred experience) Refrigeration systems Electrical Systems Install and repair electrical circuits, breakers, and related equipment Work with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems Obtain required permits and documentation Repair and maintain motors and motor starters Maintain power distribution systems Maintain emergency power generation systems Install and repair low-voltage systems Maintain fire alarm systems Service scoreboards and score clocks Maintain PA, intercom, bell, and clock systems Install and repair data and phone cabling (Cat 5/6) Maintain security, intrusion alarm, and access control systems Service irrigation controls and timers General Maintenance Install and repair locks, doors, and hardware Repair kitchen and laundry equipment Repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment Install and repair electro-mechanical equipment Operate lifts, hoists, tractors, and gas/diesel-powered equipment Perform plumbing installation and repair Complete basic carpentry, drywall, painting, and finishing work Safely operate hand and power tools Perform welding, brazing, and soldering (preferred) Install and repair flooring, ceiling systems, and insulation Operate district vehicles and trailers Respond to emergency on-call situations as needed Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands/Working Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Salary:
The 2026-27 base salary range for maintenance in the Deer Park School District is between $35.58-$39.76 per hour. Placement is determined by school district experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
