Job Description

Description This position is responsible for all routine calibrations and preventive and unexpected maintenance and repairs of facility measurement and testing equipment. The position also supports users and operations by addressing Information Systems (IS) hardware, software, and network issues. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain continuous emissions monitoring, radiation, organic, and mercury monitoring equipment.
  • Complete instrument calibrations in a timely manner.
  • Complete equipment and instrumentation repairs in a timely manner.
  • Install new equipment and instrumentation.
  • Complete assigned process logic control programming.
  • Work closely with operations, radiation and industrial safety, and quality assurance personnel to keep the facility operating under optimal conditions. Overtime and call-ins are possible.
  • Maintain calibration records and a safe working environment.
  • Manage the procurement, configuration, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of Perma-Fix systems, including the network, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Oversee the delivery of end-user services, including help desk and technical support.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal staff and users as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A trade school degree and/or five or more years of experience in the instrumentation and calibrations field is preferred.
  • An IT background, experience, or aptitude is a plus.
  • Experience building PC and server hardware and working with operating systems and networks.
  • Basic industrial electrical background and electrical capabilities are preferred.
  • Mechanical maintenance capabilities.
  • Ability to wear full-face respiratory protection, including completing the provided fit test, physical, and training.
  • Broad knowledge and application of maintenance skills, with the self-motivation to actively seek additional work and responsibility.
  • Thorough knowledge of testing equipment and the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently and handle a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Completing radiological safety training and 24hr Hazardous Materials training is required once hired (supplied by PFNW.
) Will work mostly inside, in an industrial-type environment. Facility and field work includes potential exposure to radiation or contamination, noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures, and chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in some work locations. The employee must be able to acquire a respirator fit card and wear respiratory equipment when needed, including Air Purifying Respirators (APR) and Negative Pressure Respirators (NPR).
