Job Description

Lead Escape Room Technician & Builder (Travel
CA/WA/AZ/NV
) Brainy Actz Escape Room - 2.2 Tacoma, WA Job Details Full-time $24 - $32 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Fabrication OSHA 10 Driver's License Driving Theater experience Construction experience Full Job Description Build it. Wire it. Program it. Keep it running. Brainy Actz runs escape rooms, haunted houses, and rage rooms in California and Washington. We need a hands-on builder and technician to construct new rooms and attractions, wire and program the tech that makes them come alive, and keep every room at every location working. What you'll do Build sets, walls, and props: framing, drywall, trim, hidden doors and compartments, then paint and finish them to look great up close. Install and wire escape room and haunt tech, including FrightProps prop controllers, triggers, magnetic locks, relays, sensors, and buttons, plus lighting, sound, and effects. Program and configure microcontrollers and show controllers (for example Arduino or similar boards, and prop controller setups) so puzzles, triggers, and effects behave the way the experience needs. Install, set up, and maintain animatronics and moving props (pneumatic, motor, and servo driven), including their controllers and triggers. Troubleshoot and fix whatever stops working: a lock that won't release, a sensor that won't trigger, an animatronic that sticks, a light or sound cue that's out. Drive or fly to our locations for builds, upgrades, and repairs (some overnight trips).
Work on your own:
plan the job, pick up materials, get it done, and send photos and notes when it's finished. You're a fit if you Have 2+ years of hands-on building: carpentry, construction, set/scenic building, fabrication, or similar. Are comfortable with a chop saw, circular saw, drill/driver, and drywall and paint finishing. Can wire low-voltage gear (12V/24V power supplies, relays, maglocks, sensors) and use a multimeter. Have written or modified simple code for a microcontroller (Arduino or similar) or are quick to learn it, and you like figuring out why something broke and fixing it. Have a valid driver's license and can travel across CA, WA, AZ, and NV. Can lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces. Bonus Escape room, haunted house, theme park, theatre/scenic, film props, or trade-show experience; FrightProps; animatronics; DMX lighting; pneumatics; Raspberry Pi; soldering; your own tools; OSHA 10. The work happens on site with your hands. Not a desk or CAD job. Most of your day is building, wiring, programming, and fixing. To apply Send your résumé and 3-5 photos or short videos of things you've built or wired (sets, framing, props, cabinets, animatronics, haunt or escape room work, anything). Applications without photos of real builds will not be considered. Brainy Actz is an equal opportunity employer.
