Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Shift Engineer to join our facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment during your assigned shift. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for all occupants and visitors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced setting while contributing to the overall excellence of our facilities. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and tools such as ohmmeters and hand tools. Conduct welding, carpentry, painting, and general building interior maintenance to uphold facility standards. Maintain facilities equipment including HVAC units, plumbing systems, electrical panels, and other mechanical devices through scheduled repairs or emergency interventions. Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for system monitoring and troubleshooting automation issues. Follow safety protocols and document all maintenance activities accurately in logs and reports. Collaborate with team members to coordinate repairs, upgrades, or installations while providing excellent customer service to internal clients. Experience Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building operations with a strong background in electrical work, HVAC system repair, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Hands-on knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to building systems. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting repairs. Experience with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) procedures within commercial or residential environments. Ability to read technical schematics and understand PLC programming for automation troubleshooting. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with HVAC systems including repair and system optimization. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide junior team members or apprentices when needed. Excellent communication skills in English to effectively report issues and collaborate with colleagues.
