Position Summary This position is responsible for performing confined space inspections and testing, general facility and equipment maintenance, and a variety of waterfront support activities throughout our 63-acre shipyard. Duties include inspecting and monitoring confined spaces, troubleshooting and repairing equipment and building systems, setting up vessel and facility ventilation, supporting plumbing and electrical maintenance, and assisting with seasonal and high-water operations. The position also performs housekeeping and equipment storage duties and may be assigned miscellaneous tasks as needed. Essential Functions

  • Follow directions under intermittent supervision and perform assigned duties safely and efficiently, including miscellaneous tasks outside the craft as needed.
  • Inspect confined spaces, including cargo holds, ballast tanks, fuel tanks, sewage tanks, water tanks, and other designated areas.
  • Perform general maintenance and facility support, including ventilation setup, generalized plumbing and electrical work, building heaters and ventilation systems, air compressors, and roof inspections.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various equipment and systems, including NOVA and Flowtron ventilation systems.
  • Support waterfront and seasonal operations, including snow removal, high-water preparation and pumping, vessel ventilation, and bubbler tube installation/removal.
  • Maintain and properly store equipment and perform housekeeping duties, including yard and skiff cleanup.
  • Maintain the ability and willingness to perform physically demanding, highly energetic work on the waterfront; reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures and maintain a commitment to Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety policies.

Other duties and overtime as assigned
