Maintenance Mechanic Job Responsibilities Perform mechanical repairs on all equipment used throughout the facility. Conduct mechanical repairs on building structures as needed. Safely and competently operate shop machinery, such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, and pipe threaders. Handle welding and pipe fitting tasks. Safely operate cutting tools, including torches, plasma cutters, and other flame-based equipment. Assist with painting and finishing work. Carry out insulation installation and repairs. Perform fiberglass repairs as necessary. Operate and maintain mobile equipment. Assist with concrete layout and installation. Repair pumps, including rebuilding, aligning, and installing them. Conduct preventative maintenance on facility equipment. Complete routine preventative maintenance and work orders, ensuring proper data entry into the maintenance management system. Perform lubrication tasks as part of maintenance duties. Interpret equipment data sheets and technical drawings. Read blueprints and fabricate or repair parts based on specifications. Design and layout piping systems and other fabrication projects when required. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Occasionally perform electrical repairs, including motor wiring and installation/removal tasks. Collaborate with other team members to resolve issues, work on projects, and maintain equipment. Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding material and supply needs. Occasionally take on additional duties as directed by the supervisor or lead. Physical Requirements Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders. Regular bending, standing, and lifting of objects up to 50lbs. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Occasional kneeling, squatting, and crawling. Capable of working on elevated platforms (above 15 feet) safely. Must be able to use fall protection equipment as needed. Operate powered industrial vehicles when required. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe work environment and adhering to company safety guidelines. Complete tasks by cleaning work areas, returning tools and equipment to their proper places, signing off permits, and removing locks as necessary. Maintain a clean desk and workspace, and participate in housekeeping and 5S initiatives within the maintenance and storage areas. Occasionally support these initiatives in other areas of the facility.
