Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Maintenance Technician II to ensure the optimal operation and safety of our facilities. In this dynamic role, you will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks and perform construction duties. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and facilities maintenance will contribute to creating a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced setting while supporting the ongoing success of our community buildings and operations. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance to County buildings, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, utilizing proper tools and equipment. Assist in special projects by planning, organizing, and prioritizing daily work assignments with limited supervision to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Respond to questions, complaints and requests for information by telephone or in person from employees, department heads, etc. Communicate effectively, both orally and written. Respond to and correct situations that arise in regard to maintenance activities. Comply with appropriate policies regarding safe and secure inmate work details. Estimates materials, tools and equipment needed for work assignments; orders and picks up materials and supplies form outside vendors as appropriate; prepares cost estimates for jobs. Performs skilled craft work in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, electronics, carpentry, security, and related facility systems and components. Inspects boilers, HVAC equipment, plumbing, generators, pumps, motors and similar mechanical/electrical equipment on a regular basis; troubleshoots problems and repairs as required. Repairs walls, patches, and paints. Performs welding, brazing, soldiering, metal fabrication and metal work. Services a variety of kitchen equipment to include refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, etc. Repairs and installs doors and door hardware; changes and keys locks; installs security devices, alarm systems, pneumatic door closures and related hardware. Maintains and services a variety of test equipment and hand and power tools; keeps small inventory of frequently used supplies and hardware. Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures worksites from safety hazards as necessary. Performs Snow Removal. Performs mowing, weed eating, trimming, planting, and other landscaping as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Licensure 1. High School Diploma or equivalent required 2. Must be at least 18 years of age. 3. Valid Wyoming Drivers' License Knowledge 1. Principles, methods and materials used in a variety of mechanical and electrical installation, maintenance and repair work. 2. Operation, safety and maintenance of a variety of hand, power and shop tools used in a variety of trade areas. 3. Shop mathematics. 4. Basic practices and equipment of the plumbing, welding, and carpentry trades. 5. Theory of electrical systems. 6. Materials, methods and tools used in the operation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, boilers, pumps, Metasys Controls. 7. Applicable building codes, ordinances and regulations of State and local authorities pertaining to electrical units. 8. Air compressors and pneumatic controls. Skills 1. Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of District heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities. 2. Calibrate systems. 3. Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment. 4. Diagnose defects, and install, repair and maintain heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning units. 5. Follow oral and written instructions. 6. Operate specialized machinery, equipment and tools utilized in the repair, installation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. 7. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 8. Understand and follow oral and written directions. 9. Work cooperatively with others. 10. Work independently with little direction. 11. Meet schedules and timelines. 12. Maintain routine records and prepare reports.

From $24.30 per hour
