Project Environment:
Commercial / School Facilities Position Overview Tek One Solutions is seeking Access Control Technicians / Security Installers for an upcoming commercial security project supporting multiple school facilities throughout the Frankfort, Kentucky area. This position is ideal for technicians with hands-on experience installing access control, low-voltage cabling, door hardware, and electronic security systems . Candidates with strong low-voltage cabling experience who are looking to expand their access control experience may also be considered. Technicians will report to the assigned school location based on the daily project schedule. First-day reporting instructions will be provided prior to deployment. Responsibilities Pull, route, dress, and secure low-voltage cabling Install and support access control and electronic security systems Route cabling to doors, devices, panels, and associated equipment Fish cable through door frames and existing pathways Assist with installation of electric strikes and related door hardware Cut or modify door frames for strike installation when qualified Install and terminate low-voltage devices and associated cabling Follow drawings, device locations, and field direction Maintain clean, organized, and professional workmanship Troubleshoot basic cabling and installation issues Work safely in active commercial and school environments Maintain clean work areas and protect occupied spaces during installation Preferred Experience Access control installation Electronic security systems Commercial low-voltage cabling Cat5e / Cat6 cable pulling and termination Door hardware Electric strikes Mag locks Card readers Door contacts REX devices Access control panels Fishing cable through door frames Cutting / preparing door frames for security hardware Qualifications Previous access control, security installation, or low-voltage experience Strong cable-pulling and routing skills Ability to work independently and follow field direction Experience working around doors and security hardware strongly preferred Experience cutting strikes and modifying door frames is a strong plus Ability to use standard hand and power tools Drill and Dremel experience preferred Reliable transportation to assigned project locations throughout the Frankfort area Strong attendance, professionalism, and attention to detail Must successfully complete required pre-employment background screening Tools & PPE Candidates should have standard low-voltage/security installation tools, including applicable hand tools.
Required PPE includes:
Safety glasses Appropriate work boots Hearing protection when cutting or modifying door frames Additional site-specific PPE as required Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of an active construction and installation environment, including: Standing and walking for extended periods Bending, kneeling, reaching, and working overhead Climbing ladders and accessing elevated work areas when required Pulling and routing cable through walls, ceilings, and door frames Lifting and carrying tools, cable, materials, and equipment Using hand and power tools throughout the shift Performing repetitive installation tasks Wearing required PPE Performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Interview Process Qualified candidates will complete a resume review and technical experience evaluation .
