Fiber Optic Cabling Technician Pileum Corporation - 3.7 Jackson, MS Job Details Full-time 3 days ago Qualifications Customer communication Customer service Organizational skills Telecommunication Low voltage Hand tools Full Job Description Pileum Connect is a full-service cabling company specializing in low voltage cabling, structured cabling, fiber optic cabling, access control installations, and more. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Fiber Optic Cabling Technician in our Jackson, MS office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, terminating, splicing and testing of fiber optic cables and will have 5+ years of experience. Experience with Cat6 cabling, low voltage cabling, fiber optic cabling, fiber optic installation, video wall installation, camera system installation, access control system installation, wireless access points, routers, and switches is preferred. Fusion Splicing experience with large count fibers, experience with OTDR test equipment, Mid-span splicing of high count fibers experience is also preferred.
Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, the Technician will perform a wide variety of field activities that include installing cabling infrastructure and equipment. Provide leadership and training to subordinates to ensure they learn the necessary skills to perform duties and eventually become lead technicians. Interact with customers for site walks, quoting, and providing excellent customer service Install, maintain, and repair cable systems for residential and commercial customers Perform cable terminations, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting Use hand tools and specialized equipment to complete installations and repairs Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
Skills:
Strong knowledge of Ethernet, telecommunication, and cabling systems Experience as a service technician or in a related field Proficient with hand tools and equipment used in cable installation and repair Ability to perform field service work in various weather conditions Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat, climb, lift, push or pull Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs Ability climb up and down ladders, operate scissor and boom lifts. Ability to work outdoors and indoors Willingness to travel Possess excellent organizational skills Possess leadership skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work around electric wiring We offer competitive pay rates, benefits package, and opportunities for career growth.
