Cable Technician Barrows telecommunications Raleigh, NC Job Details Full-time | Contract $700 - $1,500 a week 1 day ago Benefits On-the-job training Qualifications Hand tools Full Job Description Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Cable Technician and become a vital part of delivering reliable telecommunication and network solutions. In this energetic role, you will install, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide range of cabling systems, including fiber optics, Ethernet, and low-voltage wiring, ensuring seamless connectivity for our clients. Your expertise will help power data centers, support VoIP systems, and enhance overall network performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technology while providing exceptional customer service and technical support. Duties Install, test, and troubleshoot various cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage wiring in commercial and residential settings Use hand tools and power tools to run cables through walls, ceilings, and conduits following schematics and technical diagrams Perform fiber splicing to connect fiber optic cables with precision and efficiency Configure and troubleshoot network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, switches, and Ethernet hardware Conduct site surveys to assess cabling needs and develop detailed installation plans aligned with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards Diagnose electrical issues using tools like ohmmeters and ensure proper grounding and safety compliance Provide excellent customer service by explaining technical solutions clearly and addressing client concerns promptly Experience Proven experience as a service technician or cable installer in telecommunications or IT environments Hands-on experience with CCTV systems, telephony (including Avaya), VoIP setups, and data center cabling projects Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet protocols, and schematics interpretation Familiarity with telecommunication standards including NEC regulations for low voltage wiring Ability to repair and troubleshoot telephony equipment, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and other networking hardware Experience working with power tools, hand tools, electrical systems, and equipment repair in a fast-paced environment This is a 1099 postion Prior involvement in fiber splicing projects or network installation tasks is highly desirable Must have a truck or van capable of carrying a 28ft ladder Must be able to pass a background check an drug test.
Pay:
$700.00 - $1,500.00 per week
