POSITION
Low Voltage Cable Technician
III SALARY
$30.00 - $33.00
REPORTS TO:
Operations Manager
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
A Low Voltage Cable Technician installs, tests, and maintains low-power systems like security, fire alarms, data networks (Cat5/6, Fiber), and AV/home theaters, reading blueprints, cable pulling, termination, troubleshooting, documentation, and ensuring code compliance, often working in residential, commercial, or data center settings. Configure devices, provide customer training, and follow safety protocols (OSHA) while working with specialized low-voltage (<50V) wiring

  • Complete installation of a multitude of different systems including cabling, device termination, and programming.
Responsible for installing, terminating and testing Cat6 Data, SM & MM Indoor & Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable. Install data racks, cabinets, cable trays, sleeves, patch panels, wire managers etc. in telecommunication rooms per BICSI standards. Install firestopping Removal and demolition of abandoned cables. Work from all size ladders, scaffolding, scissor/aerial lifts & bucket trucks. Terminate fiber optic cabling using connectors & fusion splicer. Ability to troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber Test and certify fiber installations using fluke OTDR and powered meter
  • Lead a team of peer professionally to get the job completed on time and on budget
  • Attend contractors/owners meetings and relay information to Project Managers
  • Daily reporting and job updates - written and/or verbal to supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
5+ years commercial and/or industrial low voltage experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience Current
BICSI, NICET, ESA & OSHA
Certifications or the ability to successfully pass these are highly desired. Must Pass a Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen Possess a Valid Driver's License Have Reliable Transportation Must have own hand tools and basic testers Working knowledge of telecom, data & fiber networks

  • Must have manual dexterity, visual acuity, and be able to speak and hear.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

BACKGROUND CHECK
All candidates are required to complete a background investigation. The results of the background investigation will be evaluated against the requirements of the position and as applicable to the federal, and state requirements. Candidates must be able to successfully pass all required background checks and for those positions subject to a 101-630 background check to ensure compliance with Public Law 101-630 "Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act."
Pay:
$31.00 - $33.00 per hour
