Job Title :
Low Voltage Installer Job Description :
The Low Voltage Installer is responsible for assisting with the installation, wiring, and maintenance of low voltage systems, including data, security, fire alarms, and audio-visual systems. This role involves running and terminating cables, installing devices like cameras, panels, and switches, and performing basic testing. The technician will work under the supervision of senior technicians and follow safety protocols to ensure all work is completed accurately and to code.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in the installation and wiring of low voltage systems, such as CCTV cameras, access control, fire alarms, and data networks. Run, pull, and terminate low voltage cables (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, coax, fiber optics). Install devices such as cameras, sensors, control panels, switches, and outlets. Perform basic testing of systems to ensure functionality and correct wiring. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored. Follow safety protocols and industry regulations during installations. Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and minor repairs of low voltage systems. Provide support with the setup and configuration of systems under supervision. Document work completed, including cable paths, system configurations, and issues resolved. Support site cleanup and ensure that work areas are left safe and tidy.
Requirements :
Basic knowledge of low voltage systems and installation techniques. Familiarity with cable types, including Cat5e, Cat6, RG6, and fiber optics. Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills. Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials as needed. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
