Job Overview Brink Design is looking for an experienced low-voltage technician to lead fiber and structured cabling work across western South Dakota. This is a hands-on role for someone who's been doing this a long time — who can walk a job, size it up, and get it done right without being managed. Our work spans fiber and structured cabling, IP camera and access control systems, and commercial networking across federal, commercial, and institutional projects. You'll work directly with our project manager and ownership — no layers, no bureaucracy, and real ownership over how the work gets done. Duties Perform single-mode and multimode fusion splicing, termination, and enclosure work Conduct OTDR testing, interpret traces, and diagnose faults Certify fiber links using light source and power meter testing Install, terminate, and certify Cat6 and Cat6A structured cabling in commercial and federal environments Install pathway, conduit, innerduct, and cable management to specification Install and configure IP cameras, access control hardware, and network equipment Read prints and specifications; identify conflicts and problems before they get installed Produce test documentation and as-built records to project standards Coordinate directly with general contractors, customers, and site personnel Mentor less experienced techs on the crew Skills and Experience Extensive hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing Demonstrated proficiency with fusion splicers and OTDRs Structured cabling installation and certification to TIA/EIA standards Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions without checking in Comfortable reading construction drawings and technical specifications Professional with customers and other trades on active job sites Valid driver's license, clean driving record, current vehicle insurance Able to pass a background check and obtain base access credentials Preferred BICSI Installer 2 Fiber, FOA CFOT, or manufacturer certification Prior federal, DoD, or military installation experience Crew lead or foreman background Experience with UniFi, Avigilon, or similar platforms What We Offer Full-time position with a growing company Prevailing wage on federal projects; competitive pay on commercial work Small team — you'll work directly with the project manager and owner, not through layers of management Good tools, good trucks, and we don't cut corners on quality Your experience will be respected and your judgment trusted
