Structured Cabling Technician II Equiliem dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) United States, Virginia, Boydton Apr 15, 2026 Job Summary The Structured Cabling Technician II is responsible for installing, terminating, and maintaining structured cabling systems that support large-scale data center and commercial infrastructure environments. This role performs hands-on installation of copper and fiber cabling, cable pathways, server racks, and network connectivity components while ensuring all work meets established industry standards and safety protocols. The technician works closely with project teams to complete installations on schedule, maintain organized and secure workspaces, and support overall project execution. Job Responsibilities Install, route, and secure copper and fiber cabling in data center and commercial environments Terminate copper cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A connections using RJ45 connectors, patch panels, and keystone jacks Assist with fiber optic termination including LC and SC connectors and support fiber splicing when required Install cable pathways including ladder racks, basket trays, cable trays, J-hooks, and D-rings Pull, route, and label cables while maintaining proper bend radius, cable support, and pathway standards Build, install, and organize server racks, cabinets, and cable management systems Dress and organize cabling into racks, cabinets, patch panels, and network equipment Install and mount wireless access points and related network devices as required Label, test, and certify copper and fiber cabling using industry-standard testing equipment Assist with IT closet and rack infrastructure builds including rack installation, tray systems, sleeves, and cable pathways Read and interpret basic floor plans, blueprints, and cable routing diagrams to support installation activities Maintain organized work areas and follow strict safety procedures within secure data center environments Communicate installation progress, material needs, and issues to leads or supervisors Document completed work, cable counts, and daily installation progress Support team members and assist with training or guiding newer technicians when needed Job Requirements High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 2 years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, or data cable installation Hands-on experience installing and terminating copper and fiber cabling systems Experience terminating LC and SC fiber connectors and RJ45 copper connections Familiarity with rack builds, cable trays, and cable pathway installations Experience working in data centers or large-scale commercial environments preferred Understanding of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards Ability to read and interpret basic floor plans, drawings, and pathway diagrams Experience using cable testing and certification equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to follow strict safety and security protocols in controlled environments BICSI certification preferred OSHA 10 certification preferred Scissor lift certification preferred Education High school diploma or GED required Work Experience At least 2 years of structured cabling, fiber installation, or commercial low-voltage installation experience Experience working in data center or large-scale commercial construction environments preferred Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.) Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM start time Work is performed primarily in data center environments Ability to work on ladders, scissor lifts, and in confined spaces Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds Basic hand tools and work boots (steel toe or composite toe) required May require travel to multiple job sites and occasional overtime depending on project needs Contract-to-hire opportunity with professional training and advancement potential within the low-voltage industry
