Job Overview GFT Heavy Duty Diesel is looking for a dependable, hardworking Diesel Mechanic to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a mechanically minded individual who can work independently, think on their feet, and approach problems with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air brakes using schematics and advanced diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as bobtails, trailers, dump trucks, skid loaders, excavators, tractors, etc. Troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently by interpreting schematics and utilizing mechanical knowledge to identify root causes. Carry out preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, tire services, and alignment procedures. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to ensure proper fit and function. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and parts used for compliance and future reference. Support equipment operation by performing inspections and ensuring all machinery meets safety standards before deployment. Maintain a clean and organized work environment through daily and weekly cleaning tasks performed by you and other team members. Requirements Minimum of 1 year of mechanic experience. Experience may be in diesel, automotive, heavy-duty equipment, or another mechanical field. Ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot/problem-solve mechanical issues. Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality or safety. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn. Ability to work independently as well as as part of a team. Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools. Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
