4/10 Work Week We are a family-owned and operated sanitation and construction company with a strong reputation for quality service, professionalism, and dependable workmanship. Our operations include septic system installation and repair, sewer and water main repairs, sewage and grease pumping, equipment hauling, excavation, and a wide range of residential and commercial sanitation and construction services. We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing our fleet of heavy equipment, diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, trailers, and related equipment. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, dependable, safety-conscious, and able to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently in both shop and field environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and related equipment Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections to keep equipment safe and operational Troubleshoot and repair diesel engine, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems Service and repair heavy construction and excavation equipment Inspect and maintain pumps, vacuum equipment, septic and sanitation equipment, and related machinery Perform repairs and maintenance on trucks used for septic, grease, hauling, and construction operations Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, hoses, cylinders, pumps, and related components Perform brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain repairs as needed Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment repairs when necessary Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment safely and effectively Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and potential mechanical issues before they result in costly breakdowns Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts, and equipment condition Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform field repairs when necessary Coordinate with equipment operators and management regarding maintenance needs and equipment condition Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area Assist with maintaining parts inventory and identifying parts needed for repairs Perform other mechanical, maintenance, and equipment-related duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience E xperience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment systems Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems Experience working on construction, excavation, trucking, or sanitation equipment preferred Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine effective repair solutions Welding and fabrication experience preferred Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple repair and maintenance needs Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Physically capable of lifting heavy parts, working around large equipment, and working in demanding outdoor and shop environments Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently under time-sensitive conditions
Work Schedule & Additional Information:
4-day workweek (4/10 schedule) Availability for emergency and after-hours equipment repairs as needed Occasional weekend work may be required for emergency repairs or operational needs Work may be performed in the shop, yard, or in the field Company equipment includes heavy trucks, trailers, excavation equipment, septic and sanitation equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery Pre-employment drug screening required Full-time position with opportunities for continued training and growth We are looking for a mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work.
