The job includes diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, generators, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment aboard powerboats and sailboats. While we would prefer someone with experience in all these areas, we are open to applicants who have experience in some of them and are willing to learn and expand their skills. Applicants should have strong troubleshooting abilities, be dependable, and be comfortable working directly with customers at local marinas and boatyards. Duties Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Diagnose electrical issues within ship electrical systems utilizing schematics, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools. Interpret technical drawings and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical systems Utilize rigging techniques to lift heavy components safely during maintenance or installation procedures. Maintain water transportation equipment by performing scheduled servicing in accordance with safety standards and operational requirements. Ensure compliance with safety protocols by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) during all maintenance activities. Assist with the installation of new systems or components while adhering to engineering troubleshooting procedures. Support customer service efforts by communicating clearly about repair status or system issues. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts used in compliance with operational standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in marine engines or diesel-powered equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to ship electrical systems troubleshooting and diagnostics. Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, fabrication techniques, and assembly processes. Experience working with marine propulsion systems maintenance and water transportation equipment repair. Ability to interpret technical manuals and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters effectively. Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques using appropriate rigging equipment safely. Hands-on experience with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), ship electrical systems maintenance, and electrical diagnostics. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, power tools for assembly or repair tasks efficiently. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
