This position is ideal for a skilled mechanic with experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy-duty commercial trucks. The Diesel Mechanic will support our fleet by ensuring our trucks remain safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair Freightliner and Volvo trucks Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and computer-related issues Perform computer diagnostics to identify fault codes and repair needs Complete preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing Repair engines, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling, and electrical systems Identify worn or damaged parts and recommend necessary repairs Respond to roadside service and breakdown needs when required Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards Keep the maintenance area, tools, and equipment clean and organized What We're Looking For Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty truck technician Experience working with Freightliner and Volvo trucks strongly preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines and commercial truck systems Experience diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues Familiarity with diagnostic software, scanners, and fault codes Ability to perform preventive maintenance and complete repairs independently Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work safely in a fast-paced transportation environment Valid driver's license required CDL is a plus, but not required In-Person Position Why Join A&G Transport Work with a growing transportation and logistics company near the Port of Oakland Maintain a large and active commercial truck fleet Steady, hands-on work environment Team-oriented company culture Opportunity for long-term growth within our maintenance operations
