In person About the Position AMH Transport is seeking an experienced diesel engine technician to support a fleet of approximately 21 trucks. We need someone with hands-on experience diagnosing engine problems, performing major engine repairs, and completing engine rebuilds. Our fleet includes Detroit DD15, Cummins, and Volvo D13 engines. The ideal candidate can identify the root cause of a problem, explain the repairs needed, and complete the work accurately with minimal supervision. This position requires experience beyond oil changes, preventive maintenance, and basic parts replacement. Responsibilities Diagnose engine performance problems, fault codes, loss of power, overheating, and other engine concerns. Use diagnostic software to review fault codes, analyze live data, and perform diagnostic tests. Troubleshoot fuel, cooling, lubrication, turbocharger, and related engine systems. Diagnose electrical and sensor issues using wiring diagrams and testing equipment. Perform major engine repairs, including cylinder head, head gasket, injector, and other internal engine work as needed. Perform engine teardown, inspection, measurement, and rebuild or overhaul work according to manufacturer procedures and specifications. Troubleshoot emissions and aftertreatment systems, including DPF, DEF, and SCR systems. Verify completed repairs through appropriate testing. Maintain accurate records of diagnostic findings, repairs, and parts used. Coordinate repair priorities with fleet management to help reduce truck downtime. Required Qualifications Demonstrated professional experience with heavy-duty diesel engine diagnostics and major engine repairs. Hands-on engine rebuild or overhaul experience. Applicants must be able to explain their personal role in previous rebuilds. Experience with Detroit DD15, Cummins, or Volvo D13 engines. Experience across all three platforms is strongly preferred. Ability to use computer-based diagnostic tools and interpret live engine data. Ability to read service information, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer repair procedures. Ability to diagnose problems systematically and work independently. Strong attention to workmanship, safety, and repair documentation. Preferred Experience Detroit DiagnosticLink, Cummins INSITE, Volvo Premium Tech Tool, and/or JPRO. In-frame and out-of-frame engine overhauls. Diesel electrical troubleshooting and aftertreatment diagnostics. Experience maintaining and repairing trucks in a fleet environment. Important for Applicants This is an engine diagnostics and major repair position. Preventive maintenance experience alone does not meet the requirements.
