Lead Diesel Mechanic / Fleet & Facility Maintenance Outdoor Living Products - Apopka, FL Outdoor Living Products is seeking an experienced Lead Diesel Mechanic / Fleet & Facility Maintenance professional to maintain and repair our company fleet, material-handling equipment, and facilities. This is a hands-on position for an experienced mechanic who is comfortable working on a wide variety of equipment and solving problems independently. Our fleet includes diesel delivery trucks and semi-trucks of various sizes, along with forklifts and other equipment used throughout our operations. In addition to vehicle and equipment maintenance, this position serves as a key member of our facility maintenance team and assists with the repair and upkeep of equipment, buildings, and systems at our two company facilities. A maintenance technician/helper is already on staff and will work alongside and assist the person hired for this position. We are looking for someone with the experience and technical ability to take the lead on mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and facility-related projects. Primary Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, semi-trucks, and other company vehicles Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, oil changes, brake work, electrical diagnosis, and general mechanical repairs Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drivetrains, air brake systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, and related components Maintain and repair company forklifts and other material-handling equipment Identify developing mechanical problems before they result in breakdowns or unnecessary downtime Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, preventive maintenance, and parts used Help establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for fleet and equipment Perform general facility maintenance and repairs at both company locations Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and other facility-related issues within the employee's experience and abilities Assist with fabrication, welding, equipment installation, and repair projects when qualified Coordinate with outside repair companies or specialized contractors when a repair is beyond our in-house capabilities Work with and provide direction to our existing maintenance technician/helper Maintain an organized work area, equipment, and maintenance supplies Communicate equipment conditions, major repair needs, and recommended replacements to management Respond to unexpected equipment or facility problems and help minimize operational downtime Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment Qualifications & Experience We are looking for a well-rounded, experienced mechanic and problem solver rather than someone limited to one specific type of equipment.

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong diesel mechanic experience Experience working on medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks Experience with semi-trucks and diesel-powered equipment Knowledge of air brake systems Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Experience maintaining and repairing forklifts or similar material-handling equipment Ability to perform preventive maintenance as well as major and minor repairs General facility maintenance and mechanical aptitude Ability to diagnose problems and determine practical repair solutions Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance needs Ability to safely use common mechanic, diagnostic, power, and hand tools Welding and fabrication experience is a plus Hydraulic system experience is a plus Commercial fleet maintenance experience is strongly preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation CDL is a plus but is not required unless otherwise determined by the duties of the position Tools This position requires the employee to provide their own mechanic's tools necessary to perform normal vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs. Position & Schedule This is a full-time, hourly position based on a 40-hour workweek , Monday through Friday. Overtime may be available as needed based on workload, repairs, and operational requirements. The position supports two company facilities , so travel between locations will be required as needed. This is not a position where every day will look the same. One day may involve diagnosing a truck or forklift problem, while another may involve repairing equipment or addressing a facility maintenance issue.
